About Us

Our Mission

Responding to the Word of God we will educate our children as whole people by placing Christ in the centre of every part of their lives.

Our Core Values

Faith

As a Lutheran school, we are missional. We welcome families from all backgrounds, regardless of whether they go to a church or not. Everything we do is based on God’s Word and focused on sharing the love of Christ. As a Lutheran school we rest on these four basic doctrinal beliefs:

Sola Fide – Faith Alone

Sola Gratia – Grace Alone

Sola Scriptura – Scripture Alone

Solo Christo – Christ Alone

We see strength in community. We desire to help everyone feel welcomed, loved, and accepted. We want to foster a sense of belonging in our students and families. Every child deserves access to a Christian education. If finances are a barrier, please inquire about our Tuition Aid policy.

Academic Excellence & Professional Development

At ZLCS we strive for academic excellence. We desire to be at “the top of our game” when it comes to current and sound teaching practice.  The professional development of our staff is a crucial part of being at the “top of our game”.  We see investment in our teaching and support staff as investment in our students.

The Home-School Relationship

We see educating children as a joint adventure between home and school, thus promoting strong communication and regular contact between parent and teacher. Ultimately, the parent is the one responsible for ensuring a sound education for their children. We aim to support that.

The Individual

Our Lord says in Psalm 139 that He “knit us together in our mother’s womb” and that we are “fearfully and wonderfully made”. Each person in our care is a valued member of God’s creation and we work hard to promote that.

Safety

We strive to ensure that ZLCS is a safe and secure place for the students in our care. This includes not only making sure our students feel safe from physical harm, but also from bullying (physical or otherwise). It also means that we want our students to feel safe sharing their thoughts and feelings in the classroom and with our staff and volunteers.

Serviceposter hands 3

We see great value in instilling a spirit of service in our students. This includes service to God, service to each other, and service to our community and beyond. We also provide opportunity for our families to serve either by volunteering at school or through charity work.

Integrity

We stand by our claims. We don’t make promises we can’t keep! Our goal is to make the best decisions possible for the educational care of our students.
